Hello, my name is Jake Bizzell, and I am a junior at Marin Academy in San Rafael, California. I was born in Baltimore, Maryland but grew up in Washington DC after being adopted at birth by my two gay dads. When I was fourteen years old, my family moved to Northern California, and we currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
While living in DC, I attended the Lowell School from Pre-K through Middle School. Lowell is a progressive, independent school located in the North West quadrant of the city, not too far from Silver Spring, Maryland. At Lowell, I played soccer, basketball, and participated in the orchestra. Our family spent a great deal of time studying history, and we visited most all of the battlefields of both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. We also spent time visiting several national parks, of which my favorite was Yellowstone National Park.
After Middle School, my family moved to California, and I now attend high school at Marin Academy. I have studied Biology, Chemistry and Physics Honors; three years of Mandarin; Geometry Honors, Algebra I Honors and Pre-Calculus Honors; History Honors and English Honors. I consider myself a “history buff” so my favorite classes involve history, and I particularly enjoy learning about World War I & II. I have enjoyed participating in the school’s sailing club, as well as the school’s flag football, basketball and baseball teams. Finally, I have participated in several of the school’s theater productions, playing supporting and lead roles.
My family enjoys traveling and discovering new places to visit in California. Additionally, I enjoy writing, drawing, and playing video games. I also enjoy following sports, particularly football, baseball, and hockey. My favorite sports team is the Denver Broncos.
